Welcome to
The Barley Mow

Beautiful Women and Dog

Landlord and Landlady, Angel and Katy, alongside cocker spaniel Ruby welcome you to The Barley Mow. Re-opened after a year on the 28th November 2025, we are delighted to offer a fresh take on the classic country pub.

Popular with locals and visitors alike, The Barley Mow is quickly becoming known for a locally sourced fresh menu, beautifully kept cask ales and a friendly welcome, there is nowhere better to relax after exploring our beautiful surroundings, whether that’s a pint after a long walk in Kingsley Vale, a dinner after Goodwood or a coffee during a drive in the countryside.

We are ideally located just a short drive from Chichester, Portsmouth and Havant, perfect for an idyllic escape to the countryside.

An Absolute Must!
We’re always trying to find little hidden gems and often end up driving around with no real plan, just hoping to stumble across somewhere different to eat. Yesterday, we found exactly that. If you’re considering visiting here, do it. You won’t regret it. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere was spot on. The staff were absolutely fantastic, friendly, welcoming, chatty, and genuinely professional. You could tell they actually care about the experience they give people. I’d barely glanced at the menu before the owner recommended the beef brisket, and I’m very glad he did because it was incredible. We sat outside in the garden area, which was beautiful. There’s a small river running along the perimeter which made the whole setting feel really relaxed and peaceful. There were 4 adults and 4 children with us, and every single one of us found multiple things on the menu we wanted to order. The menu itself is really well balanced, plenty of choice without being overwhelming, plus there’s an extra “Bar Snacks” section with even more great options. We ordered a second round of drinks and shortly after the food arrived. Honestly, all 8 meals disappeared within minutes. Not a single complaint from anyone, which says everything. The food was fresh, full of flavour, perfectly cooked and clearly made with care. This place has nailed it, amazing food, brilliant staff, a fantastic atmosphere, a beautiful garden setting, and a great selection of drinks. Places like this are hard to find nowadays. An easy 10/10 from all of us. We’ll definitely be back very soon

2 of us had fabulous Sunday lunch today after a long dog walk. Roast beef was perfect, with some fat on to slip to Charlie our dog. Game pie was also great. Epic roast potatoes! Too stuffed for dessert!

Worth a visit
First visit since new managent. Lovely new decor, friendly service and I’ve honestly never had better chips. Wife’s burger was exceptional.

Great country pub
I cannot recommend this pub highly enough. We enjoyed pizza and burger sitting in the sunshine, and the landlady was incredibly welcoming — nothing was too much trouble. The beer was perfect, and the beautiful walks with the dog made it even better. Finishing the day with a great pint and delicious pizza in such a lovely country pub was ideal. We’ll definitely be back again. Thank you

A Delcious Sunday Roast After A Scenic Walk
A wonderful welcoming pub that serves the most delicious Sunday roasts. We had not visited for a while and discovered it to be under new management. We had booked for 2pm and, as it was a lovely day, intended going on a countryside walk for a couple of hours to build up an apetite! The hosts could not have been more friendly and welcoming and allowed us to park up beforehand and wished us a good walk. The sirloin of beef & pork loin roasts were delicious and served with an array of good vegetables - an added bonus was that the ingredients were locally sourced. We will be sure to visit again and good luck to the new licencees for the future.
